Your comments are almost exactly the opposite of Kenzi's
observations! Tunisian shouldn't be all that different from Moroccan
and her moroccan henna paste gets used immediately.

I have noticed a difference in where the product comes from, but the
differences in staining times doesn't seem to be consistent. I've
bought Moroccan henna before that took a longer time to stain. The
henna I get from Rajasthan needs to be soaked overnight, but provides
a very dark stain.

I have on occasion bought henna from Sudan. It is a royal rich dark
color, but unfortunately the bags are always so dirty that I have had
to sift them several times, reducing what I'm actually paying for to
make it not so worth while.

One of the magic ingredients that I keep running into is CITRIC
ACID. Any of the mixes (including MehndiMud and Navaid's henna) have
citric acid and stain almost immediately upon hitting the skin.
(Natasha - I still haven't used your hummingbird mix - maybe this
week!)
On Willowhawks' page there are slight differences when camphor is
added. It's too bad she doesn't have pictures of two days later --
when the proof of the pudding is really there.
Ciao!
Kree
