Hmmmmm......
I had wondered the same thing... I do suppose there must be a
saturation point... and once it reaches that point, it will already
be exfoliating, so it is not possible to get it any darker. I used to
do solid henna on the bottoms of my feet, but i never waited for it
to fade completely. I'll have to try it again, and re-apply for a few
consecutive nights to see what it does for the color. I did once do a
2 color Persian hand... (email me if you want the picture, it's not
uploaded yet) I had done the solid fingertips and a bit of Kufic one
night, tricked it with ammonia, and when it wasn't very black by the
end of the 24 hours, i decided to go over it again. So i hennaed
right over it all, and added the parts that i wanted to stay red.
Well the next morning when i woke up, the fingertips were the most
gorgeous shade of deeeep velvet black. That was the darkest henna i
have ever seen! The red part of the design also darkened to near
black, but it ws really amazing what 2 applications did. I had to
moisturize every few hours for days to keep it from looking 'ashy'!

: Hey all,
:
: Maybe this has been discussed before, but does anyone know if there
is
: an upper limit to re-apply henna and have it add to the stain?
: Sometimes if I don't want any new designs I'll go over part or all
of
: an old one, usually several days later. What happens when you do
it
: the next day? How many times can you re-apply and get darker...how
: dark can you get?
: I know that in some henna-using cultures they reapply over several
: days. This was what I did when I first started, and it was a pain
in
: the you-know-what, but I'm just curious...
: The celtic/norse/south pacific - looking design on my palm that I
: wrapped several days ago using Kenzi's awesome cotton felt tape is
an
: incredible black cherry. Last night I did a foot based on a
Catherine
: design (something from Cairo as I recall) and went over the center
of
: my palm a little. The color looks deeper after leaving it on
: overnight...that is, in those always-wrinkling lines in my palm and
: the invariably mottled parts on the fingertips whenever I "fill in".
: But I can't help but wonder, what if? How dark could it get?
Right
: now I love the color...anyone out there played with reapplication?
