Just something which may be related.

My sister usually gets the 'lovely' job of mixing up our henna paste
and recently began testing for the 'green dye'.

She rubbed some henna powder between her fingers until the henna had
almost disappeared. She found 'bright blue' particals left on her
finger tips. We agreed that this must be an added dye of some sort,
would you agree?

I won't disclose the brand, however I will mention that it was a
cheap batch from our local grocer. Incidently it didn't stain very
well.

Anyway, we returned to the same store the next day and bought
another 'identical' batch and tested it again. This time there were
no particals left at all, and it stained to a beautiful deep red.

I don't usually purchase our henna powder locally, preferring to
order from reputable suppliers. However we do make a habit of
picking up small amounts from local outlets, just to see what IS
actually available over here in Australia (not much).

Would you agree that the 'blue' particals were an added dye? Or
alternatively, maybe you have another explanation?

Look forward to your reply.

Regards
Anne Manning

: Everything has blown this way out of portion.
: Everyone is not reading my post thoroughly. Or I might not be
making
: myself clear. If I am not I am sorry.
:
: Let me lay it all out there for everyone.
:
: I tested for green dye only not PPD.
:
: I don't use black or color henna.
: I will be using Navaids Henna powder only.
: Yes, he sells black henna/color henna paste. But that does not have
: anything to do with me, what he does.
:
: There are henna artists that have been around for a real long time,
: and don't like the black henna, but they have all told me on the
: phone and by email, that Navaids black henna is safe, and does not
: have PPD's in it.
: If you want to test his stuff you can go to chemist, maybe at a
local
: college or there places that you can go and test stuff.
:
: I am not sticking up for him what so ever as far as his black henna
: is concerned. I am only dealing with his Henna powder. I am a
natural
: henna artist.
:
: I cannot reveal the name of henna suppliers that have green dye in
: them. It wouldn't be right.(and that's my opinion, please except my
: decision). I guess that I posted this to let people know that there
: is green dye in a lot of henna powders, and to start testing it
: before using it.
:
: I wanted to let everyone know my results of the stain, oils and
etc..
: I am sorry if it got confusing. I will try to make myself clearer
: next time.
:
: My apologizes,
