I feel an Asian or African violinist should not have to change their
name to play Beethoven, and I don't think someone born in the US
should need to change names to be taken seriously as a henna artist.

Mind... I've lost dozens of gigs because people from South Asia and
the Middle East simply could NOT deal with hiring a non-ethnic, but
even if I had adoped a faux name, I couldn't have kept up the pretense
once I got through their front door (and that would have been worse!).
I am comfortable with being accepted or rejected for who I am ... too
complicated to set up a false front!
