I am : reminded why I stopped doing large patches to begin with- it's all : splotchy and uneven, which is worse as the color is so gorgeously : dark. I would add something to your paste to prevent cracking -- sugar, honey, glycerin, okra, or Nick's egg white trick... something to keep the paste more moist with less cracking. I don't have much problems with blotching in filled-in patches, except when I use new skin! NS gives me this very strange lizard-skin effect on large patches of henna, kind of neat but seriously weird. I also second the double-coat advice, using old paste or short "on time" if you don't want darker color. I have to agree, while I like seeing how dark my color can get, I really prefer the paler shades... they fade SO much more prettily! Zimra, whose fading back-of-the hand design (formerly a reddish-cocoa color) is in the "weird skin disease" phase!
