Re: Awareness of PPD, almost !Posted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on June 20, 2001 at 21:37:45: In reply to: Awareness of PPD, almost ! posted by Simon on June 20, 2001 at 20:52:48: I can't tell you how thrilled I am that there's been a proper paperwritten on PPD black henna. Though it's pretty clear from the wording that the rant was at hand when it was written, and that the physician wasn't all that familar with traditional henna ... the basic info is out there in a PROPER medical publication that traditional henna is pretty harmless, and the PPD %^&* is DANGEROUS! If physicians know what they're looking at (finally!) people will get correct diagnoses, appropriate treatment, and poisonslingers WILL get reported to the county health department! I think eventually, this will work its way up to PPD getting prohibited for use on people, as it already is in several countries. When it's totally off the shelves..... big sigh of relief. I get frequent emails from people who have nearly died from using black hair dye on their hair ..... I'd just like to see PPD out of the whole ecosystem. On nights when I spent an allnight job emailing parents of a child in the hospital from a PPD disaster all the information I could lay my hands on, or sending 50+ emails to journalists doing a piece on the subject .... and getting supremely frustrated .... I kept in mind just how long it took for the medical community to come to grips with HIV/AIDS and how long it took for the tobacco industry to get torpedoes. Good for perspective. To everyone on the forum who has contributed in the effort to get PPD black henna information into the hands of people who need it..... thank you! The fight against PPD black henna has gone SOOOOOO far in the last 12 months! Big grin!
