Perhaps the: other people will do themselves. On all the occasions when I was a guest at an Indian wedding the bride was the only one whose henna was done by a professional. The rest of us were given little containers and toothpicks. Some of the women worked on others, and some worked on themselves. Those women who didn't think they could do it themselves asked one of the other guests to do it for them. Since I was the only non-Indian there and I put on my own henna, the other women got very curious about me and one by one came over to see the designs I came up with. I was extremely flattered when they paid me compliments. The professional henna artist spent the entire evening just working on the bride. Have fun! It's sure to be a wonderful and memorable evening! The memory of those evenings will certainly always be with me. It's very special to be welcomed into someone else's culture in such a way. Regards, Marina
