I'm one of the artists out there charging dirt cheap prices, at least
for the little teenage punk ravers who need their weekly mehndi
fixes.

Advice from my Uncle who owns an antique and home accessories shop:
You can tell how much to charge a person by their shoes and their
handbag.

I know it just ain't right, but I will charge a person more if I know
where they live is in the "right" side of town. But my ideals of
justice prevail most of the time and I end up underselling myself.

You just have to learn not to be a wuss! Be a good artist (even a
great artist) and do your best. Heck, I make folks feel like they're
getting a deal when I tell 'em that henna artists in NYC charge $80
an hour.

$3 for a $20 design just aint right. The girl probably DOESNT need
the money and is seriously doing henna just because she likes it and
is good at it.

I suspect she might even be too aloof to join you for events.

I dont know, I'm just speculating... and I just spent the last month
with a VERY spoiled, sheltered, wealthy Indian girl as one of my
travelling companions in France.
