I think it has something to do with the ph balance. It may have just
been my imagination but when i mixed my henna i first added the tea,
and then mixed it to a crumbly consistency, at this point it was
quite dark green. But then i added the lemon juice and I think i saw
the paste turn a little lighter. So I'm presuming the acid in new
henna paste reacted with the dye in your skin and lightens it. does
this make sense to you?
