Henna in the papers.Posted by Jewel on July 15, 2001 at 23:58:41: This article was in the papers yesterday (Sunday, July 15). While it'sgood that the existence of PPD in black "henna" is being discussed openly in a main newspaper, I'm rather uncomfortable that they did not distinguish clearly the safety difference between using natural henna and PPD-spiked so-called henna pastes (bleah). Please read the article and see what we can do to provide better information to the public. "Black henna" problem is not a big one in Singapore 'cos most people here know henna as a plant dye that produces a reddish-brown stain though sometimes I'm sure someone has asked for a black henna tattoo. But I heard its notorious in Thailand (and they probably did it dirt cheap). It's too bad that they showed a picture of a hand decorated in natural henna on the article. I'm sure alot of people would confuse "black henna" with the real one now. ~Jewel~ - who is writing to the papers and showing them the link to CCJ's "Black henna" page.
