: Whatever happened to the idea of an e'zine related to henna?

The EZine is on it's way. We have received two finished articles
already and another is in the pipeline. As a joint project between
Alex and myself, it has been substantially slowed down by the fact
that Alex has been ill since early May. Don't worry - it will happen,
but we'd rather get it right than rush it through when one of us
isn't up to it. Once the first issue is sorted, with all the design
implications that it carries, we'll be on the hunt for articles for
future issues.

Until Alex is well again, I'm not committing us to an actual
deadline, but I hope to be able to report progress around early
September.

If areas come up that would benefit from help, I will ask, but the
main task is that of designing the look of the ezine. Actually,
suggestions for regular features would be useful - anyone got any
ideas they'd like to see?

: Since I
: haven't worked my way through the entire Archive as yet, I wondered
: it there has been discussion of an Association of Henna Artist or
: if one already exists.

I would like to see The Henna Page as the focus for such an
Association. There are tremendous possibilities in this direction.

An up-to-date list of artists would be an essential part of this, and
to this end I am currently writing a self-maintainance script which
will allow people to update their own entries. Additions and changes
would have to be checked before they went live, but that's much
quicker than having to transcribe information out of email or static
web form requests.

The system would involve a nominal fee for inclusion in the list,
primarily to ensure that defunct entries dropped off the list after 6
months. Changes would be free of charge.

As an extension, I would be interested in hearing people's thoughts
on the feasibility of running an artist vetting system. The idea is
that we establish a team of trusted vetters. In return for expenses,
and maybe a small remuneration, vetters could be called upon to visit
artists in their area (or have the artist visit them?) and watch them
at work, then photograph the results for inclusion on a Henna Page
web business card. The artist would be able to show a Henna
Association certificate including the link to the business card.
Naturally, all this would be funded from the Artist's membership fee.

Ideas on how to run a similar scheme for suppliers would be of
interest. We need to guard against self-interest, either as false
self-promotion, or false denigration of a competitor.

Thoughts anyone?

Jeremy
