: my problem was more with the other side in the debate, who just
don't
: seem to be "getting it".
: I just hope that out of conflict, can come a return to being here
for
: the joy of the art, not to push "my bestest henna tattoo" (sic)
: OK, enough sarcasm for the moment!
:
: yet another Anne
:
: : Another thing i want to say, is please don't put down those of us
: who
: : are defending the forum. As you may have noticed down there, a
lot
: of
: : people seem quite united in the opinion that the 'paid to sell'
: : stance is no fun. It's hard to ignore when people keep pushing
ads
: in
: : your face. So we really are trying to do something about that,
and
: : unfortunately, the only way to do that in this case has been to
: have
: : a bit of an argument. Everything can't always be perfect, and
there
: : will always be the occasional conflict. You have to live with it
: and
: : slide with it, cuz it will pass.

: : : I haven't had my paste get grainy, but then I usually don't
: strain
: : : after mixing, but before. We use cake-decorating tubes, not
: : : j-bottles, and find it way easier to sift the henna (the fred-o-
: : matic
: : : is neat, but pantyhose work ok too) then strain the lemon, tea
: : : mixture, etc.
: : : As for the bad vibes below, that stuff dismays me, too. I was
: : going
: : : to post something to that effect until I saw you'd already done
: so.
: : : I think this forum was started in a spirit of sharing, of
: education
: : : and non-competitiveness, which for me at least was refreshing
: after
: : a
: : : run-in with the local "McMehndi" artist who is just plain mean.
: : : I found this forum to be pleasant, friendly, etc., Catherine
: mailed
: : me
: : : henna and designs, I met Kree through here, and so on.
: : : Lately the vibe has changed, and it's sad.
: : : I have no problem with objective statements about particular
: : : suppliers' products, but I do have a problem with people being
: paid
: : to
: : : post here, being here for no other reason than to sell, sell,
: sell,
: : : putting down other products in favor of theirs, etc.
: : : There is a larger problem which to me is one of attitude.
There
: : seem
: : : to be more put-downs than usual, and a certain measure of
: : : arrogance/defensiveness that is really unpleasant.
: : : I agree about standards. We used to have them, or perhaps it
was
: : : simply the unspoken agreement among adults. Whatever, this
forum
: : : would be well-served to return to such standards.
: : :
: : : trying not to sound TOO much like a grad student,
: : :
: : : Anne Beltestad
: : :
: : : : it is represented in that war. Anyone who came to the forum
: : within
: : : : the last 2 weeks for the first time must truly have a strange
: : : : perspective about what goes on here. Glad I found the forum
a
: : few
: : : : weeks prior and know what usually goes on here. I am glad
you
: : : posted
: : : : because I was thinking that I was the only one turned off by
it.

I agree,,,, we must always remain united, and let other people have
whatever trip they want to be on. We are united in our love of our
art, and blessed with that. We need to NEVER lose sight of that!!
