Henna is so tricky and finicky. You might be on to something with the lanolin theory. I don't know anything about how lanolin is released from the skin and when and why it is released. But it appears that it would certainly interfere with the henna stain. My girlfriend I referred to who does not take a decent henna stain also does not tan as quickly as I. By the end of the summer there is a distinct difference in our skin color. By September I am much darker and her coloring has not changed much if at all. So there may well be some correlation between tanning and taking a henna stain. I tan and stain. What about you? And I wonder about others experience. Maureen
