How can I get this Black "henna" off? posted by Nikki on July 23, 2001 at 19:17:57: Very sorry to hear you got taken by the black poison pushers!Unfortunately, part of why this *%@# is so bad is that people DON'T always have a visible reaction, but it builds up in your system, I believe in the liver and kidneys, and can cause long-term health problems. It is very nasty stuff. I would suggest drinking LOTS more water than you already do, to flush the black junk out of your bloodstream. Unlike real henna, which sits on the outer, dead skin layers, PPD goes into your bloodstream, so scrubbing it off won't help you at this point. Take care of yourself, eat well and hydrate, and avoid fake "black henna" in the future! Tell your family and friends that real henna is not harmful, real henna doesn't "come in different colors", and is beautiful! If you are mad that the "artist" didn't tell you, and want to do something, print out the "black henna" info from this page and take it to the organizers of the festival where this was done to you, or whoever's responsible for the area where this vendor set up. If you can approach the "artist" with the chemical info, that's great, but try to remind them that they are hurting themselves and their kids by being around this &@$#. Sometimes it's all the greedy idiots can understand, but they may just be ignorant, so be nice. On a brighter note, you have just stumbled across one of the very best places to learn about real, traditional henna! Stick around and see what you can see...there are many lovely photos, interesting tips, discussions about all aspects of henna...Welcome! I hope you can discover just how beautiful this art can be! Peace, Anne Beltestad Gilded Lilies, Seattle, WA, USA : While on vacation I got the tops of my hands done with "black : henna." I didn't know they put harmful chemicals in it. I've had it : for a little over a week now and I haven't gotten a reaction yet. : BUT, I want to get rid of it asap so that nothing happens. Is there : anything I can do to get rid of it? Thanks.
