I would suggest adding sugar to your paste. It soaks up moisture
from the air and thus keeps the paste moist longer so it doesn't
crack. I usually add about 1 tsp. for every 2 tsp of henna powder.

As for removing New Skin, you need to prepare for that when you apply
the New Skin. The best way, in my experience, is when the New Skin
is still wet on your skin to press toilet paper or cotton onto the
skin and then wrap it up and tape everything down. What you are
doing is incorporating the toilet paper/cotton into the New Skin
which forms a solid layer as the New Skin dries. The next day you
can peel the toilet paper/cottom off and most of the henna and the
New Skin should come with it.
