The first time I ever bought henna was a 1/2 oz. pre-mix tube
whose ingredient list I had to DUST OFF to read... (that explains the
wimpy peach-colored stain I got with it. :-P ) I couldn't figure out
what was making it smell like the stuff they used to clean my day care
facility with. Sure enough, it listed "terrapin oil," and all I could
think was, "I know there's supposed to be some kind of secret mojo or
whatever that goes into making this stuff, but... ICK!" I nearly gave
up on the art altogether because of that! Then, of course, I stumbled
onto this fabulous forum... and the first time I saw "terpineol" I
figured out that something had gotten lost in the translation.
Kinda like that whole "Coca-Cola"-written-in-Kanji deal... :-)

(I know, I know, the story's been misconstrued. It's still funny.)

And I'm sure I'm only the bajillionth person to say this, but...
thanks a bunch for putting all this hard work into making henna
easier for the rest of us! Death to the all the snobbery and secrecy!
(But long live sharing under copyright protection!!)
