I recently dyed my hair (fire engine red that glows in blacklight!)
with Manic Panic dyes, and the main colorants in them are "acid"
colors. In case you didn't know, Manic Panic prides themselves on
using food and vegetable dyes only in thier hair products. And BOY
does that stuff stain skin! I had spots on my hands for a few days!
So i don't think this is PPD, since it is in the "acid" family, and
Manic Panic swears by it. (yes, as per veggie dyes, my hair was faded
in about 10 days to very light orange. No sticking around like most
chemical dyes.)

: Hmmmm....this is a real tuffy, because we cannot know for sure
: whether or not ppd or any other chemicals were used. Even though
: black acid was listed as the blackening agent it would not
transform
: the hennatonic molecules to black. older skin cells are permeable
to
: hennatonnic acid, but are impermeable to many many other
substances,
: in fact most food dyes are impermeable. So osmosis cannot occur if
: the particles are too big to permeate the cells. i would stay away
: from it, (the black henna, and the previous science lesson) who
know
: what was added to make it black.
