I think that you're right that the freezer makes henna more lumpy.
Sifting henna before use has definitely helped me, but I've been
attempting to minimize powder flow around my dorm room. Whenever I
try to do any kind of sifting without a separate kitchen environment
I have very little success, and I end up with a nice green, snowy
powder on the rug.
