Ispoke to a henna artist down in Miami a couple of months ago and she got REALLY ILL from constantly sifting henna, she was busy and would sift a couple times a week. This was in the 90's when super sifted henna wasnt so widely available because the artform was "new." She got BAD symptoms, headaches, feeling like she was choking, or like something was wrapped too tightly around her neck. She got so sick that she had to stop doing henna, and then guess what, her illness stopped, too. When she was able to start again, she figured out that the illness was directly linked to the henna sifting, her headaches would begin the day after she had sifted her henna. Now she doesnt do hardly any henna work at all. That's a shame because it seemed like she really enjoyed it. Be careful when you're using henna powder! If you can smell it or the powder gets everywhere it's bad for you. Every once in a while is one thing, but most of us are exposed to this at least once a week so we need to be cautious. Use a mask or tie a handkerchief around your nose and mouth. Hope I'm not blowing this way out of proportion, Darlahood
