Hi Lenny and welcome to a superb and well supported art,
I've used Rani in the past and was not pleased with the result. For
one thing, the best results are those with which fresh (or fairly so)
henna is used and the premade cones tend to be older and have sat who
knows where for who knows how long. If you have located Rani, chances
are you've found an Indian, Middle Eastern or otherwise "ethnic"
market and are quite likely to find powdered henna. Avoid anything
that doesn't list ingredients (other than 100% pure henna or is
labeled as 'black.') There are numerous online places that sell
quality henna. Tho I haven't used it, I hear Kenzi
(http://www.kenzi.com) has excellent henna. I have no doubt of this
as it is Moroccan and I love Moroccan henna! I believe the 'where'
button atop the page lists excellent resources. Scroll on down the
page and read about the effects that certain essential oils have and
make sure to visit http://reverndbunny.sphosting.com/- Catherine
Cartwright Jones, scholar and artist extraordinaire.
Hope this helps!

: I am new to the Henna tatoo art. My first attempt was successful as
: far as the designs go. Unfortunatly though the color was not very
good
: I had subjects wash the area well first then applied the Mehandi
oil
: I purchased (Shelly Mehandi Oil, from Kaveri Ent.). Once dried I
: applied the Henna (Rani Kone Henna Paste, a premixed paste in a
tube).
: After allowing to dry for the recommended time( one hour) it was
: scraped off to reveal the pale design. I reapplied and it did
darken a
: little but not to the degree I would hope. Any suggestions offered
: would be greatly appreciated as we (my wife and I ) are hoping to
: offer this service in her hair salon.
:
: Thanking you in advance
: Nosforatu (Lenny)
