(I promise I wasn't trying to...)

Last night my husband took me to a cake-decorating store to pick up
some new tools I could try with my henna. (I've been doing the
homemade-Ziploc-baggie-cone technique thus far. Takes me a lot of
tape and a lot of time.) We got a #1 tip, a couple pastry bags, and a
really cool cake flour sifter for the powder. Well, when I got up to
the counter, the kindly woman behind it began making cake decorator
type chit-chat with me... which came to an abrupt halt when I said,
"Actually, these are for another art form altogether," and asked if
she'd heard of henna.

I cannot adequately describe (but REALLY wish you guys could have
seen) the "I-don't-know-what-planet-you're-from, whoever-you-are,
but-please-don't-hurt-me" look that kept skittering across her face,
despite her obvious efforts to control it. Fortunately, when I showed
her my thumb (I currently have a simply patterned ring design on it)
and went into a little more detail about how the whole process works,
she slowly began to return to her friendly pre-panic demeanor.

I'm thinking about taking a cake decorating class so I can get more
practice (and control) using the bag. Has anyone done this already,
and has it helped?

Sophie, who's dreadfully sorry to have frightened a very nice cake
lady, even if it DID provide the best laugh I've had in weeks...
