aesthetics vs pricePosted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on August 9, 2001 at 21:18:30: In reply to: The Good Scents Company sells perfume quality terpineol 11kg/$14.69 posted by Faery Ring on August 9, 2001 at 21:05:37: The color I got with straight terpineol wasn't quite as good as thatwith Cajaput and Tea Tree. It went to a deep burgundy brown and held .... but in many ways it behaved very similarly to the Tea Tree and Caj. It's a great little molecule for henna ... as hydrocarbon solvent, with a small molecule, suiting the hydrophobic 1-4 hydroxy napthaquinone molecule very nicely. It has very low incidence of skin irritation ... and is cheap to boot ....shows why that the manufactureres use it all the time in pre-made pastes! Thanks for the resource, I'll put it on my webpage. I certainly hadn't come up with a source! Terpineol *could* use a bit of help in the smell department. I do like the smell and feel of the EO's better than straight terpineol ... perhaps the complex of monoterpine hydrocarbon solvents do a better job than just the one. If cheap is your bottom line .... straight terpineol should do ok. If aesthetics overshadow money ... go for the EO's.
