The rant continuesPosted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on August 20, 2001 at 17:44:50: In reply to: Gosh, this all really frightens me (plus a rant) posted by Rupal on August 20, 2001 at 16:50:46: This last year has been a hard uphill climb to inform the public, themedical profession and the government agencies about PPD. At the Sirius Rising Henna Conference 2000, I got the assignment to prepare information on PPD black henna to present to media and suchlike .... and thus I did http://reverndbunny.sphosting.com/ppdburnchild.html http://reverndbunny.sphosting.com/mediappd.htm http://reverndbunny.sphosting.com/ppdburns.html and have all helped tremendously. Papers such as http://www.smw.ch/pdf200x/2001/2001-13/2001-13-351.PDF have been wonderful. The feature Fox News did on PPD black henna (aired in many cities last month, done with beaucoup material from my harddrive, and much time with the camera on me as I ranted on PPD vs traditional henna) seems to have reached many, many people! Also, the BBC, London Times, New Zealand Republic, KCOP 13 LA, and many other media features that I've personally worked with, have gotten the word out with as much clarity and responsibility on the issues as I could get them to press into limited space. PPD black henna has been banned in many places ... but as long as Bigen is available over the counter with no warnings, there's going to be a big problem! I've personally worked with over 100 people who've had injuries, and couldn't get proper diagnosis or proper treatment because of the general level of ignorance. Because the issues of henna and PPD are complex and can't be grasped quickly by the stupid, government officials are lagging behind in getting these things sorted. It's going to be a long climb uphill yet.
