: There are no two takes that are identical.

That explains why my mom gets NO STAIN whatsoever from the very same
paste that gives me dark browns in just a couple of hours. Mom left
the paste on till it's dry and crumbled off (in 1-2 hours). The stain
was orange upon removal but disappeared totally in the next hour
(strange!).

The stain on my friend's hands and feet darkened only after more than
36 hours (I was afraid it was not gonna darken at all and she's a
bride!). Well, she was a little stressed out with her wedding
preparations so maybe that explains why it didn't darken quickly (I
might be totally wrong here).

: We frequently had stain difficulties with pastes that were "sealed"
as
: opposed to those just allowed to dry and fall off naturally.
: Generally, our better stains were those allowed to be in contact
with
: the air.

I normally don't use any kind of sealant and let the paste dry
naturally (with sugar in the paste it sticks on the skin like glue).

: Personally, I am glad that henna is not entirely predictable. It
: keeps me humble ... and interested! Same with bread, sex and
: spaghetti sauce!

AYE! I agree *grins* ...
