There are no two takes that are identical.

Because I have the good fortune of hennaeing at campgrounds where I
can see the results for days ... and because at Sirius Rising we
deliberately tracked people for up to 10 days, I agree that results
vary.

I'd swear that stress is a factor. Perhaps the elevated acidity (or
something)in perspiration with stress screws up henna.
Personal chemistry, personal habits, and individual levels of
keratinization in epidermal skin make a huge difference.

With the terped paste, I did a foot and leg; left the henna on the
foot for 1 hour and the leg for 5 hours. The stains were IDENTICAL
when the color matured. The 1 hour section exfoliated 2 days before
the 5 hour section.

We frequently had stain difficulties with pastes that were "sealed" as
opposed to those just allowed to dry and fall off naturally.
Generally, our better stains were those allowed to be in contact with
the air.

Try waiting one more day with the terps before applying. There seems
to be wide variation on the time different hennaes require to do
whatever the heck it is that they're doing.

Personally, I am glad that henna is not entirely predictable. It
keeps me humble ... and interested! Same with bread, sex and
spaghetti sauce!
