Treatment for Black Henna Allergic ReactionPosted by Justine on August 30, 2001 at 11:37:14: Background: I got an immediate reaction to a black henna tattoo inBali about 2 months ago. After a day of itching, blistering, and watching my entire arm swell up; I finally broke down and went to a nearby clinic. Treatment: The doctor was very helpful and gave me a 7-day regimen of oral antibiotics, antihistamine, and anti-inflammatory pills. As well as antibiotic and anti-inflammatory cream to rub on twice-a-day for about 2 weeks. Antibiotics are very important, especially if you're in the tropics! After those first two weeks of blistering and scabs, the area on my bicep healed very well, and there is very little scarring now.
