Don't worryPosted by Khoa on September 1, 2001 at 17:25:50: In reply to: Mehndi forbidden in Germany? posted by Luis on September 1, 2001 at 14:09:58: Catherine is right, Most of the stuff I know I learned from her, andalot of other people on this forum, but the reason it is deemed unsafe is because scientists extracted cells from a mouse, rat whatever you want to call it, and introduced a level of lawson that would be hard to get using just henna. So say you had one hundred grams of henna paste, and only two percent of that was hennatonnic acid, thats only two grams of hennatonic acid, so its at a ratio of 1:47 (1 gram of acid per 47 grams of other components in henna) so if you were to use say a teaspoon of henna, you'd only be getting a miniscule amount of hennatonnic acid in your body, and since the hennatonnic acid doesn't absorb that far into the body, it won't cause any harm. Think about it, I'm sure if rubbing alcohol were to absorb deep into the body it would cause some harm right? But I don't think it absorbs that far into the body, so it doesn't cause any harm. Just remember if Ignorance were a bliss, the FDA would be in heaven!
