Henna Colours

I have just used some henna with tea tree oil which came out a very
brilliant orange colour and did not darken at all (interesting but
not desirable in my opinion - I prefer the brown stains). Is is
possible to tell from the henna what sort of colour it will end up -
does good henna always come out brown or can henna stain other
colours also (natural henna, no additives) Any insight into this
would be good because good fresh henna is hard to come by in South
Australia and I have to choose the best of a bad bunch by looking at
the henna powder - any suggestions appreciated.
