There is often variation in the colors of henna sometimes within a
single brand. A lot depends on when it was harvested and what the
weather and soil conditions were like. It would be very hard to tell
just from looking at henna powder what color it will come out. The
key to it all is to get the freshest stuff possible. This will give
you the darkest possible stain.

Another thing to remember is that often the stain will be orange when
you first remove the paste but darken to brown over the next 24
hours. Be patient and you will be rewarded!
