Hi Anne,

It would be interesting to me as well to see pics of those near black
results that others are getting from terped paste left on for such
short times and then left to fall off. I would also like to see a
comparison pic of the stain resulting from same henna powder without
the terps. Hope that makes sense. The significant difference I see
the terps making is extending the life of older henna powder. I
don't see the cajeput (my terp of choice) making a significant
difference in the stain if the paste is made with really fresh henna
powder, lemon and sugar.

I do find that wetting the stain within 12 hours will weaken the
results significantly. I still seal and wrap when possible because
that also appears to make a difference. Preferably I will apply the
paste at night...seal and wrap it and in the morning I have my best
stains. When I get a stain from paste left on only 15 minutes, I
find I can get the same stain with or without cajeput mixed in...the
variable is the freshness of the henna powder. I have not gotten a
15 minute stain from older powder unless cajeput was mixed in. I
also find that the stain that results from paste left on for only 15
minutes is gone with some henna powder in less than 7 days and can
become faint in about three days.

The experiments I have done with the cajeput and some other eos for
fragrance have not gone well at all. The fragrance can be awesome
but the stain has been either weak or nonexistent. I have stopped
playing with fragrance and just put some rose oil on the design after
the paste has been removed. Also, as I have said before, I love the
smell of the henna powder, cajeput and lemon...so I don't feel the
need for another fragrance added in. I really do think that the most
valuable experiment for determining what the individual terps do
would have to start with a baseline of the staining capacity of henna
paste made from a specific henna powder mixed solely with lemon
juice. Without that baseline...how do you measure the change that
takes place or determine if any change has taken place at all?

Maureen
