Maybe, finally, getting promised results with terped paste? (long)Posted by Anne Beltestad on September 8, 2001 at 17:13:29: OK, for a month or more now, admittedly in the midst of picking up mywhole life and moving to NYC, I have been playing with the Sirius mixtures, trying deseperately to get the kind of results Catherine posted - to no avail. I have a sneaking suspicion my results are not uncommon; darker than whatever previous recipe, but not "blackberry" or "chesnut hull on the arms of dark-skinned women" (sorta reddish brown on my own upper arm, and that's it). The palms have often been no darker than the backs of the hands, on me at least. I think my really dark palm results were with our OLD recipe; diva mix, eucalyptus, and clove oil. I have gone to CCJ's Sirius page over and over, trying to read between the lines and figure out what the difference is. I think one confusing thing is that she says "paste left on" which I interpreted to mean "not getting it wet", and should have meant "paste left on"! (it's just hard for me to be upright, especially at a festival, and not touch anything after the paste is dry! The only way the paste is gonna stay on is if I'm sleeping!) However - last night I hennaed myself with Ojai Body Arts henna, mixed with lemon, then 24 hours later with caj. and geranium, waited an hour and went over the old design on my hand. I lemonsugared really well, with an application of the blowdryer. Then I wrapped (which CCJ says she doesn't have to do - she also says no need for aftercare, heat, etc!) and slept ten hours in muggy NYC weather. This morning my fingertips are dark brick on the palms, maybe even a little darker on the backs. As usual, where the design crosses the bend of my wrist, it's pale tan. This is darker than I usually get with terped paste. Darker, as I recall, from our old diva mix, but not like what the Reverend Bunny has! It's a bad time of month for henna for me, so maybe I'm going about this all wrong, but what do you all think? I know others have not had the same results as CCJ with terps. Catherine - do you think you're maybe just more acidic than a lot of people (Kree drinks tons of coffee and always stains darker) ? Have you had the kind of results you post on your own hands on clients? What do people feel is the role of aftercare? Is leaving the paste undisturbed on the skin as important as not getting it wet for 24 hours? What about doing both? Several lily-gilders who are less impatient and fanatical about cleaning as I am have been able to go 48 hours without washing, and they get much darker stains than I do. Has anyone else had the kind of results CCJ shows on CLIENTS? Let me know, Thanks, Anne
