hot and filthy is good?Posted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on September 9, 2001 at 02:39:32: In reply to: getting promised results posted by Darlahood on September 8, 2001 at 18:55:26: : Yes, I think that NOT washing off the dry henna paste, letting it: flake away on its own, and not taking a shower or otherwise being : exposed to water for 12 hours or so after that, definitely lets your : henna have time to combine with your skin cells so it can get a : headstart on the darkening process. It is possible that the "campground" situations that I've been in all summer may have been helpful! Washing was a limited option. Sweat stayed on the skin, and I told everyone to leave the paste on the skin until it dried and fell off of it's own accord. I didn't seal anything after Zimra kept having poor results with her sealed terp mix. I was ok with sealer, but she got much better results without. Sealer definitely delayed the darkening! So .. no lemon-sugar, no NS, no nothing. Just park it there and leave it till it falls off all by itself. I can't say for sure how long you need to go without washing, because Stow's water doesn't seem to bother henna at all (though I know other water systems have enough chlorine to wreck the stain). Today Gwyn's henna wasn't faboo .. but she left it on her wrist and hand only 1/2 hour yesterday. Her's has hit deep bittersweet, though.
