The after care is one part of the issue. Also there is the issue of
when he gets into the water. If he has his design on 2 or 3 days and
it is in its full glory, he should be able to put vasoline on it and
the design should withstand the ocean's water and salt and his
frequent showers that will challenge it. I think the first day or
so that the design is on and when the design is breaking up are the
two times when the designs are most vunerable.

I have found that if I want to hurry the demise of the design, I rub
the designed area of the body with the towel as vigorously as I rub
the rest of the body when getting out of the bath or shower. When I
want the design to last as long as possible. I allow the area to air
dry...especially during those days when the stain is already trying
to break up. So I would tell him about the vasoline a warn him
against too much friction when drying off. Of course...there are
those stains that come and never go away no matter what you do. Good
