: Hi all,
: Well, as some of you know, i have a henna book in the works. It was
: just going to be a lot of random patterns from the arts of various
: cultures. But i was supposed to have it finished by now, and i have
: not even the first 5 pages done. I have 3 that i did wrong and have
: to redraw again.
: And seeing/hearing about all the progress the other authors hanging
: around here are making has made me feel like maybe this wasn't
meant
: to be. I'm stuck back in the begining stages, and everyone else is
: speeding on ahead.
: I also have a really dumb pet-peeve about originality. I feel that
if
: it isn't 100% original as a henna pattern then i can't take credit
: for it. For example, if Turkish arts had already been covered in
: another book, i feel like i can't cover them because it's already
: been done and even if the patterns are totally different, they will
: be somehow an imitation of the original. It makes me feel like
people
: will say 'oh he just re-drew what other people already did.'
: I have no idea where i am going to find the time anyways, as it
looks
: like almost all my free time will be spent doing homework or
: exhausted from doing all the homework. I know, i could be drawing
: now, but what purpose would it serve?
: So is anybody going to give me a major pep talk? I want to do this
: book. Make me do it.
: ~Nick

Your book will come out fine. Just always go with your first choice
or instinct, I'm having a similar dilemna with a dance performance on
Thursday. (I'd better get cracking) henna on ankle must be done by
Wedensday night, music must be picked yet, costume which one , what
steps to do.etc. Dancing like henna or any artform. can be full of
frustration and self-doubt. But take you time and things will work
out. Don't rush , because when you rush you make more mistakes than
taking your time. Do your long awaited book at your own pace. Your
designs will be fine, like Bob Ross always says "Oops there's a
happy little mistake lets work with it." And I'll want a copy when it
is done. You have lots of older sisters here, don't stress it. Bright
blessings, to you :-) Christine
