Stick with it but don't neglect your school work or we'll all have to buy your book just to keep you off the streets when you flunk out of school! On the subject of originality, I agree that it's important to present someting new, but you don't have to reinvent the wheel each time. Take a look at CCJ's book; what makes her work so wonderful is that she looks at historical sources and interprets them for use in henna. What is original is her view of the historical sources and the way in which she interprets them and combines things and lays them out to fit a hand. For example, she has designs incorporating the ankh; she's not the first to do that design, but she does use it in a variety of original ways, juxtaposing it with design elements in a completely new way. I have seen a little sample of your work for this book and I think you are on the right track. Just find your own voice and use that to interpret the designs that you are collecting. The results are sure to be amazing!
