Check on your neighborsPosted by Linda in NJ on September 14, 2001 at 22:21:33: As I live in New Jersey and work in New York I have come acrossliterally dozens of people who have lost someone in the past several days. One of the more upsetting ocurrences in the past three days happened to my husband. Many of our neighbors are Middle Eastern and we haven't seen them out and about since Tuesday morning. Bill (my husband) finally saw our upstairs neighbor and asked after his family. Although his immediate family was okay a close friend of theirs had called them from the WTC before the building collapsed and he is presumed dead. What was so upsetting to my husband and me (beyond the obvious) is our neighbor looked surprised when Bill asked how he was doing, and amazed that anyone cared (we aren't Middle Eastern). Please, even if you don't know your neighbors take the time to say hello and ask after them, you may be the first person to do so. I hope and pray that everyone you know is safe; if you have lost someone know that prayers of strength and caring are with you. Linda
