What has happened that would make one say that the act of forgiveness is unrealistic.

Kim,

I find that strange. This entire issue is so complex. But suddenly
there is this cut and dry, either or, black and white kind of
thinking going on. Forgiveness is not for the "other"...it is for
the "self". One may forgive and still maintain and exercise their
option to take action against one who takes action against them.
Those are not mutually exclusive concepts. Nor is the act of
forgiveness a weakness or an easy thing to do. It takes great
strength of character to do so. Which is why it is not done very
often.

Now, is that the course this country is going to take. No way! But
it is both realistic and reasonable to remember and suggest it as an
option. Bin Laden thinks forgiveness is unrealistic too. I am
certainly not equating you with him. I am just saying that to ever
think that forgiveness in any situation is unrealistic, is an extreme
thought. It must always be an option. When it is decided to take
vengance, I hope it is always done with the clear understanding that
vengence is in direct opposition to the word of that same God that is
being asked to "...bless America." What was unrealistic was what
happened when those planes were flown into the WTC and the Pentagon
and crashed in Pennsylvania...unrealistic and surrealistic. And what
the US is going to do in retaliation will be the same...unrealistic
and surrealistic. And some of us will live to understand the reality
of that.

Maureen who really only wants to think about henna and painting a
ceramic platter right now.
