An alternative to lemon juice fixative when you're in a pinch...

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this message board, and not nearly as experienced as some
of you, however, I've found a helpful trick for a fixative. I was at
my boyfriends house and had brought my henna supplies with me, and
realized that I forgot to make some lemon juice fixative. I went to
a nearby Cumberland Farms to see if they had any of the bottled
stuff, but they didn't. So, I bought a bottle of plain grapefruit
juice from concentrate. When I got back to the house, I poured about
1/2 of it in a small sauce pan and added some sugar (I didn't measure
how much, but it was quite a bit), then I reduced it to about 1/2 of
what I originally put in the pan. Once it had cooled a little, I
bottled it up and used it like you would use the lemon juice
fixative. I can honestly say that it worked great, as my design is
developing as it normally would and is nice and dark now. Just
thought I'd share that with you all.
