Medalon on the movie, "Never-Ending Story".

Do you know of the movie,"Never-Ending Story"? One of the characters
wears a medalon around his neck that is two seperants enter-woven
like a Celtic Knot. I have seen that emblem years ago, but I can't
remember the meaning of it. Can anyone please tell me where / or what
that symbol means?
