Open mind and shut mough is a good thing! From the anthro perspective, you can see why I wrote this one up the way I did (carefully, so people reading could come to their own conclusions) ... it took me 6 months to get that in the rabbit hole to my satisfaction. I've worked on many women who were in arranged marriages, but this was the first woman who had NEVER met her husband, never phoned him, never seen a picture, never had been given the opportunity to approve or disprove the arrangement. Every other woman I'd worked with, at some stage, had been allowed that. So, I made the blunder of asking "Is he a nice guy?" But, with the blunder, I got a window into how that worked for her. I admired and respected her willingness to completely submit herself to duty. The cat and dog thing has come up in some variants. Many women from overseas haven't been able to get the hang of animals in the house. Of course, if they're only familiar with hungry, filthy scavengers, haram at that .... then the cuddly pugdog and purring lap cat are 4 legged oxymorons. Maybe I can get back to this discussion later ... gotta run to class, myself!
