yes, i've had that happen from time to time also and have noidea why. with very fine henna powder and coarse henna powder.
about the only thing i ever do different is sometimes mix when the
liquid is still fairly warm, i'll pay more attention next time and
see if a batch mixed warm balls up, maybe it cooks the powder.
