It's not really a question of conservatism, it's just that I'm a nurse and my hands must appear very sanitary. I think that even though it isn't really dirty, a henna design gives the impression that my hands aren't clean. People get kinda nutty about who touches their newborns, especially nervous new moms.

With all the washing I do (minimum 30 times a shift), it would probably be ruined in short order anyway.
