Re: Harquus: maybe a question for CatherinePosted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on April 20, 2001 at 19:06:09: In reply to: Harquus: maybe a question for Catherine posted by Willowhawk on April 20, 2001 at 18:38:02: I've seen henna take on faces..... regular fresh henna looks a bitlike mercurichrome stains, though. Facial skin is thin and oily ... not much callousing. I don't offer henna on faces much, as orange isn't all that favored hereabouts. Pre-made pastes give a nice brown henna stain, but when Zimra had me do a Turkic pattern up her chest, throat and chin ... the chest and throat were fine but the face stung fierce from the oils! Faces are very tender! My first choice for facial work is Maybelline Waterproof Ultraliner, or Temptu outline black. They're SAFE. Safe is good. Because harquus patterns are closely related with parallel applications in tattoo, various recipes for a black (or colored) face paint, khidab, and henna, I group them together. The choice of media varies with the occasion ... many other things. Its really a very complex subject, and one I absolutely adore! If there were a harquus forum, I'd be on it every day!
