yes, but wait a day...Posted by Anne Beltestad on July 13, 2001 at 21:32:00: In reply to: Medium stain + re-applied henna = LIGHTER stain?! posted by BarefootSophie on July 13, 2001 at 21:11:43: and it may darken, depending on how good a stain you got the secondtime. This happens to me whenever I henna over anything but the most ghostly faded pumpkin orange. Even if it's really dark, you can see another, lighter layer kindof taking over the older stain. BUt, in my experience, it will go darker than the first stain, if you just give it time. You might have the chemistry going on that needs 36-48 hours to darken, but I think that depends on weather, your chemistry, the henna's properties, heat, sweat... My advice: go run or dance or ride a bike, get all sweaty, wait a long time before getting it wet! good luck and many dark stains, Anne Beltestad Gilded Lilies, Seattle, WA (soon to be with Maison Kenzi, NYC!) : I'm really frustrated by this... I tried to do a fresh overlay of : henna part of a design that didn't turn out as dark as the rest. I : left it on just as long as I had the first time, figuring a little : darker would be less noticeable than a little lighter. When I took off : the paste, the spot I had hennaed was even lighter than it had been : before. Now the rest of the design was a mahogany color except for a : milk-chocolate patch! Has anyone else seen this phenomenon? Got any : ideas on how to correct it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. : : Thanks! : Sophie
