shelf life of henna mixture

i am new at mehndi and i want to know how long henna mixture (or
whatever the paste stuff is called)can be stored. does it get old or
spoil? and what is the best way to store the paste? i don't do it
professionally, just for mine and my three daughters enjoyment.
