allergy), there would be a different progression of symptoms. Intense
itching within 3 hours of application, wheezing, tightness in chest,
hives.

My hunch is that it's a reaction to the lemon juice. Sounds like you
have some skin that is very sensitive to the acid ... or has become
photosensitive with citrus. (Citrus oils can be phototoxins) How old
are you? Do you drive with your left arm out driver's side window?
Have you had sunburns on that arm (i.e. could the skin have been
damaged from UV)?

Try mixing with just rainwater and see if that changes something.
