I have a question

I had a henna design done yesterday at the Bristol Renaissance
Faire. The lady who did it did a great job! However, after about two
hours, the dried henna got really itchy and after I got most of it
off, the whole area itched unbearably for about two hours and was red
under the design. This morning, it is completely fine- no itch, no
red and it looks really good. Is it normal for it to itch, or did I
make it worse by taking the dry paste off? I have read a great deal
about PPD on this forum, but I sincerely doubt that this is the
problem.
Since I am beginning to do designs myself, I would like to know so
that this doesn't happen to anyone I work on.
