I think that iron can penetrate the skin because it is such a small
molecule but it is unlikely a lot can penetrate since iron dissolves
in water with great difficulty. I don’t know about iron oxide
(that’s not iron metal is it?). What about adding some iron filings
into the paste to see if it zaps it somehow? Maybe the iron molecule
interacts with the hennotannic acids causing it to change color? One
could try picking up some iron supplements from the health food store
and mixing that into the paste. Hmmmmm time to check out the local
health food store.
