henna for hair, a few ?s

A client of mine wants me to help her henna her hair next week and I
have a few questions...

Her hair is very short, kind of a boyish cut, how much henna should I
mix up? 12 oz maybe?

Are terps okay in hair henna? I wasn't going to use any, just lemon
juice and castle art henna, but was wondering if I could put in a few
drops of something just to smell pretty.
