Re: stick questionPosted by Nick on November 4, 2001 at 14:30:15: In reply to: stick question posted by M on November 4, 2001 at 06:04:48: The way that i've had the most luck with is as follows:make a slightly larger batch of henna than normal, using only enough liquid to make a very thick paste. Now here's the trick- separate an egg and add the white to the henna. Stir it in very well, and add more liquid as needed to adjust the consistency. This should make your henna very stringy. Using a bamboo skewer, dip the *blunt* end into the henna, give it a quick little stir as though you were writing an 'o' with it in the henna, and lift it straight out of the bowl. It should form a little string of henna, about half an inch long hanging from the end of the stick. Then you can lay this down on the skin. It won't work every time, so you do have to be patient with it. A good part of it is practicing enough that you figure out the speed with which you need to work so that the lines are at their finest and most uniform. Play around, and see what works for you. The egg in the henna should help a lot. I think i'm going to attempt to do my whole hand this way some time soon, so i'll post a pic as soon as i've done so. In the mean time, Loretta Roome has some great pictures of this method in her book. ~Nick : hello experienced henna-ers, : So far, i have been using homemade tubes (and one time a painbrush, : with disturbing results)and my question is, : : How do you apply henna with a stick/wire/toothpick? : Do you use it kinda in a paint brush sorta style, drawing little bit : by little bit, or do you drag up little slivery lines of henna and : drape them onto the skin, or some other way i havent even thought : of???? : : Also, if someone could post a pic, or link to a pic of a : stick/wire/toothpick drawn henna, that would be really appreciated
